No doubt this market was not the only one, and, from what I hear through my correspondents, both this country and Europe share alike the feelings of a wild scramble for raw furs. I said previously I have not been in sympathy with these prices, and I reiterate my remarks of last month that we are at a danger point from which there must be a tremendous reaction. Our stock of furs to-day are extremely light; everything has been taken by manufacturers, dealers and exporters almost as fast as it arrived; therefore, what is left in speculators' hands is held at extreme figures. The January sales in London appear to have been satisfactory to all shippers, and, no doubt, this will influence large shipments for the March sales.
